EuroUnicorns 2026:
When a Dream Becomes Real
The pilot season of Europe’s first international U10 girls baseball team — from idea to reality, one city at a time
The pilot season of EuroUnicorns is complete. Our girls competed at the SuperCup 2026 and finished 22nd out of 24 teams. And I am proud of every single one of them.
This project was never just about winning. It was about motivation, courage, friendship, teamwork, and opportunity — for girls from across Europe. And we achieved all of that. In fact, we achieved far more than I ever dared imagine at the start.
⬥ SuperCup 2025 · Where It All Started
The Idea That Changed Everything
The idea was born at SuperCup 2025, where I was in Hluboká with the Slovakia Panthers. Watching the competition, one question kept growing in my mind: why should the SuperCup only be for the best girls from a single country?
I’m not someone who is afraid of big dreams. By the time the tournament ended, the concept of a pan-European girls’ team was fully formed in my head. SuperCup is a remarkably motivating environment.
⬥ December 2025 · Bratislava
15 Girls. One Team.
We selected 15 girls through the Baseball is for Girls Too tournament. In Germany, Ulli Wermuth identified three more, completing the roster. The first camp took place in December in Bratislava, with players arriving from Orli Choceň, Waynes Pardubice, Apollo Bratislava, Angels Trnava, and Vienna Panthers.
They trained together for the first time. And more importantly — they met each other. The first friendships were formed before the first pitch was thrown.
⬥ February 2026 · Schwechat, Austria
Five Games. Zero Wins. One Lesson.
The second camp moved to Schwechat under coach Lukas Schuetz of Blue Bats. Three German clubs joined for the first time — Hamburg Stealers, Freising Grizzlies, and Friedberg Braves. The training was intense. The games that followed — five matches against Wanderers, Blue Bats, and the Austrian SuperCup selection — were all losses.
No surprise there. These girls had never played together before, and we coaches barely knew them yet. The parents were perhaps a little more anxious than the rest of us — but we all made it through with smiles on our faces.
⬥ March 2026 · Rožnov pod Radhoštěm
A Real Team Taking Shape
Thanks to Iva Kretková of Camels Rožnov, the international Euro Kids Tournament came together in March. Playing against Arrows Ostrava, Klasik Frýdek-Místek, and Hurricanes, this was already the third time the squad had shared a field — and the difference was visible. Terezka from Ježci Jihlava and Neli from Camels Rožnov joined the roster.
The coaches now knew their players. And the players were beginning to play like they knew each other too. The results of months of joint work were starting to show on the field.
⬥ April 2026 · Mainz, Germany
5th Place at the Silver Cup
Invited to the Silver Cup in Mainz by Ulli Wermuth, EuroUnicorns faced nine German teams including Future Stars, Mainz Athletics, Köln Cardinals, and Hamburg Stealers. It was their toughest test yet — and they rose to it.
Game after game, the team grew sharper, bolder, more cohesive. The match against multiple SuperCup winners Future Stars — lost in overtime 11:12 — drew crowds from across the venue. The coaching staff had one word for what they witnessed: goddesses.
Final result: 5th place overall. A landmark moment for the project.
⬥ May 2026 · Bratislava
Tournament Champions
The Baseball is for Girls Too tournament in Bratislava brought together Phoenix Bratislava, Queens Wrocław, Trnava Panthers, Vienna Panthers — and EuroUnicorns. The U10 category title went to exactly who had earned it.
EuroUnicorns won the tournament. Their first title of the season — and a beautiful reward for everything the girls had put in since December.
Watching individuals become a team that truly believes in each other — that was something special to witness.
⬥ May 29–31 · Hluboká nad Vltavou
SuperCup 2026
We arrived in Hluboká on Monday — four days before the tournament. With players from four countries, that time together mattered. We trained with Sokol Hluboká, beat German side Rising Stars on Thursday, and arrived at the first game fully prepared.
The SuperCup itself brought losses against Draci Brno, Catalunya, Patriots Liberec, and Arrows Ostrava — but also a memorable first win against the Slovak national team. Games against Mainz Athletics and Sabat Praha followed. Final standing: 22nd of 24 teams (20th excluding Masters teams).
Could we have played better? In places, yes. The defensive quality from our pre-season tournaments was stronger at times, and some games could have gone differently. But sport is unpredictable — that’s part of its beauty.

What We Actually Built
Step back from the final standings, and what you find is something no table can measure. EuroUnicorns became the first international U10 girls’ baseball team in European history. A team that met in five cities across four countries over six months. A team whose players were separated by hundreds of kilometers — and united by one sport.

⬥ The People Behind EuroUnicorns
It Takes a Village
EuroUnicorns was created by Zuzana Zambojová, who launched Baseball is for Girls Too in 2024 to show girls across the continent that this sport belongs to them. The idea for an international team was born at SuperCup 2025 — and twelve months later, that idea stood on a diamond in Hluboká. None of it would have been possible without the coaches, parents, clubs, and volunteers who believed in it.

⬥ Once a Unicorn, Always a Unicorn
The Story Continues
EuroUnicorns isn’t finished. We will keep connecting girls across Europe, finding new players, and creating opportunities for the next generation. The current squad will continue to develop — and alongside them, we will build a new U10 team for the girls who come next.
All girls born in 2017 or later are invited to the next Baseball is for Girls Too tournament — November 14st and November 15st in Bratislava. That’s where the next EuroUnicorns selection begins.
