EuroUnicorns at the SuperCup 2026 — results, reflections, and something far greater than a final standing
After the warmup tournament in Bratislava, it was finally time. The peak of the entire season had arrived — SuperCup 2026 in Hluboká nad Vltavou. Everything the team had worked toward since November was about to be put to the ultimate test.
⬥ Monday, May 25
Arriving Early. On Purpose.
The tournament didn’t start until Friday — but EuroUnicorns arrived in Hluboká on Monday. That was a deliberate choice. With players traveling from Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, and Slovakia, time together was as important as any training drill.
From Tuesday onward, the days were filled with training sessions, long walks, swims in the Vltava river, and the kind of easy, unhurried time together that builds genuine team spirit. It may well have been the finest teambuilding any of these girls — or coaches — could have asked for.

⬥ Tuesday & Thursday
Getting Sharp
On Tuesday, EuroUnicorns stepped onto the field for a preparatory match against the home side, Sokol Hluboká. The result didn’t go their way — but every game is a lesson, and the team took notes.
Thursday brought a different story. Facing the German side Rising Stars, EuroUnicorns delivered a sharp, composed performance and came away with the win. The timing couldn’t have been better — tournament day was just around the corner.
⬥ May 29–31, 2026 · SuperCup
The Main Stage
Friday brought the moment the team had been building toward for six months. The SuperCup opened with a loss against Draci Brno, followed by difficult games against Catalunya and Patriots Liberec.
Saturday was a mix of heartbreak and breakthrough. A loss against Arrows Ostrava — then, finally, a victory. EuroUnicorns defeated the Slovak national team for their first SuperCup win of the tournament. The dugout erupted. Further games followed against Mainz Athletics and Sabat Praha.
Final standing: 22nd out of 24 teams. Without Masters teams: 20th.
⬥ More Than a Result
The Real Victory
Could the team have played better? Honestly, yes. The defensive quality shown in the pre-season tournaments was higher, and some games could have gone a different way. But sport is unpredictable — that’s part of what makes it worth playing.
But step back from the scoreboard for a moment — and what you see is something far more significant. EuroUnicorns became the first international girls’ baseball team at the U10 level in Europe. A team that came together across six months and four countries. A team whose players were separated by hundreds of kilometers — and brought together by a shared love of baseball.

⬥ The People Behind the Project
It Takes a Village
EuroUnicorns didn’t happen by accident. The project was conceived by Zuzana Zambojová, who founded Baseball is for Girls Too in 2024 with a simple but powerful mission: to show girls that baseball belongs to them too. The idea for a fully international team was born at the SuperCup 2025 — and twelve months later, that idea stood on a diamond in Hluboká.

Together, this group proved that working with young athletes — when it’s built on enthusiasm, empathy, and love of the game — has no borders. Without the support of coaches, parents, clubs, and countless volunteers, this unique European project would never have left the drawing board.

This Is Just The Beginning
The EuroUnicorns story doesn’t end in Hluboká. This November, a new edition of Baseball is for Girls Too opens the next selection process. A new group of girls will get their chance — and the EuroUnicorns chapter will grow again.
For now: thank you. To the girls who gave everything. To the coaches who crossed borders. To the parents who drove hundreds of kilometers. And to everyone who believes that baseball is for girls too.
